ABOUT CAKES

Cakes is a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and an esteemed dance educator and choreographer with a passion for inspiring young dancers. With over 35 years of teaching experience, Cakes has made a significant impact in the dance community.

Having obtained a BFA in dance from the University of Minnesota , Cake's dedication to the art form shines through her extensive achievements. Notably, Cakes toured for over 9 years with the renowned group Bell Biv DeVoe, even performing with them at the legendary Apollo Theater. Her talent was also recognized in Chris Rock's documentary, "Good Hair," where Cakes was featured as a dancer.

As a choreographer, Cakes has worked with an impressive roster of artists, including Bell Biv DeVoe, Johnny Gill, Chloe and Halle Bailey, Turquoise Jeep, and Jimmy Eat World. Her creativity and artistic vision have brought life to numerous performances and music videos, showcasing their versatility and innovative choreographic style.

Cakes commitment to dance education led her to establish Project Slide, a dance studio and program for  kids, teens, and adults. For over 14 years, Project Slide has served the Atlanta and Decatur communities, positively impacting the lives of thousands of children. Cakes teaching expertise has nurtured aspiring talents, including Karma Bridges, the inspiration behind the Netflix series "Karma's World," as well as Chloe Bailey and Halle Bailey, known for her role as Ariel.

As the founder and creator of Project Dance Studio, Cakes has developed a comprehensive dance curriculum that has successfully educated countless students. Moreover, her teacher training method has empowered and inspired numerous up-and-coming dance instructors. Cakes dedication to sharing their knowledge has also extended to her YouTube channel, where her videos have garnered over 15 million views, reaching a wide audience and further spreading the joy of dance.

With a wealth of experience, a profound passion for dance, and a commitment to nurturing young talent, Cakes continues to make a lasting impact on the dance community and beyond.

Cakes has recently launched her new brand A PIECE OF CAKES. ' A Piece of Cakes' is the culmination of her diverse creative passions, ranging from crafting engaging  kids' learning products to providing invaluable resources for dance teachers and studio owners through an array of digital and physical products.
